At Guide Studio, we believe great design doesn’t just enhance spaces—it connects people to places and stories. Kevin Fromet, our Design Director for Signage and Wayfinding, exemplifies this philosophy with his thoughtful and practical approach to design. With a career shaped by creativity, hands-on expertise, and a passion for collaboration, Kevin has played a pivotal role in shaping how Guide Studio helps communities find their way.
From Architecture to Wayfinding
Kevin’s journey into Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) was sparked by a childhood fascination with architecture and a memorable trip to Disney World, where he first saw how signage could transform how people experience a space. These early inspirations fueled a career that began with designing for landmark projects like the Cleveland Browns Stadium and The Ohio State University Stadium. Later, Kevin spent a decade working for a national sign manufacturer, gaining the practical knowledge needed to design with fabrication in mind. “Designing to get things built is a challenge I embrace,” Kevin says. “It’s not just about making things look good; it’s about ensuring they function and last.”
A Leader in Design and Collaboration
Since joining Guide Studio, Kevin has been a cornerstone of the team, known for his ability to blend leadership, collaboration, and storytelling into every project. His favorite projects include the wayfinding program for the University of West Georgia and the multi-year transformation of MetroHealth’s Campus Transformation project. These complex undertakings challenged him to integrate strategy, design, and client education, resulting in solutions that are as functional as they are impactful. “I love bringing clients along on the journey,” Kevin shares. “Helping them understand the ‘why’ behind every design decision ensures every project feels meaningful and cohesive.”
Kevin’s contributions extend beyond project work. As a member of Guide Studio’s leadership team, he has helped shape the company’s approach to client relationships and design strategy. His ability to demystify complex concepts and foster open communication has made him an invaluable resource for both the team and the clients they serve.
Creativity Beyond the Office
Outside of work, Kevin is always building—whether it’s a DIY project, teaching himself a new skill, or experimenting with new design tools. “I’m always drawn to the process of making something, especially when it’s hands-on and tangible,” he explains. “That’s what first attracted me to environmental graphic design.”
He also loves solving puzzles—whether crossword, jigsaw, murder mysteries, or escape rooms—and sees this passion reflected in his approach to design. “Design is a puzzle to be solved,” he says. “There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing all the pieces come together.”
But the fact that always surprises people? He works every day with his wife, Cathy Fromet, Guide Studio’s president.
Looking Ahead
For Kevin, the future of Guide Studio lies in thoughtful growth. “It’s not about growing for growth’s sake,” he says. “It’s about doing work we’re proud of, staying true to our mission, and continuing to create designs that, while functional, leave a lasting impact.”
