Wayfinding
Glass City Center, Toledo OH

Project Overview

Dozens of new music, food, art, and entertainment venues have energized Downtown Toledo, with Glass City Center among them. As part of The Collaborative’s project team, Guide Studio used brand strategy, signage, and experiential graphics to help re-cast the former SeaGate Center, which had become dated over time and not reflective of the vibrancy of the City, as the Glass City Center. The newly renovated and expanded Convention Center was designed to reflect the city’s reputation as the “glass capital of the world” and to position it as a hub for the people of Toledo and a home base from which visitors can branch out and explore the city as a whole.

The project architects wove this vision into designing a new Grand Ballroom, terrace overlook, and renovation of the existing convention center space while paying homage to Toledo’s vibrant art scene by incorporating art and sculpture.

Guide Studio worked with the Owners and Glass City design team on brand strategy, wayfinding strategy, signage and experiential graphics – all aimed at bringing that positioning to life in the space and setting an understated backdrop for the changing art and conventions that the Center brings.
