The City of Bedford, home to an expansive Metropark, the historic Automile, and a thriving business community, attracts many visitors—yet its unique assets and charming Historic Downtown often go unnoticed.
Guide Studio conducted a comprehensive evaluation of Bedford’s municipal signage program to assess its effectiveness in guiding and informing visitors. Through in-depth collaboration with City officials, a wayfinding audit, and an online public survey, we identified key navigation challenges, primary travel routes, significant destinations, and city gateways.
Our findings shaped a strategic set of recommendations to strengthen Bedford’s image through improved wayfinding and placemaking. By providing detailed sign system examples and cost estimates, we empowered the City to plan effectively for new signage.
With this data, Bedford secured Council approval, and Guide Studio swiftly designed a visually appealing and functional sign system. Today, this system enhances the city’s sense of place, ensuring residents and visitors feel welcomed and confident as they explore all that Bedford has to offer.
