Project Overview

In collaboration with Guide Studio, Grove City embarked on a strategic branding initiative to define and express a brand identity that celebrates its distinctive character, community values, and forward-thinking vision. Grounded in meaningful community engagement, the process included immersive activities—such as community conversations, stakeholder workshops, walking tours, and targeted surveys—to gather a wide range of perspectives from residents, businesses, and civic leaders. This inclusive approach ensured the resulting brand authentically reflects the spirit of Grove City.

During discovery, key themes emerged that define Grove City’s identity: a small-town charm that endures despite rapid growth, exceptional services and amenities, and a deeply rooted sense of community. At the same time, the process revealed nuanced challenges around growth, such as concerns about overdevelopment, the balance between local and national businesses, and the preservation of historic character. These insights informed a strategy designed to both celebrate Grove City’s strengths and thoughtfully address its evolving identity.

Guide Studio worked closely with city stakeholders to craft a unifying brand position: “Central Ohio’s original and best hometown.” This clear and compelling narrative highlights the city’s vibrant downtown, welcoming neighborhoods, beloved events, and unmatched livability—distinguishing Grove City from its regional peers.

To bring the brand to life, Guide Studio developed a flexible identity system featuring a versatile logo family, a warm and welcoming color palette inspired by Grove City’s natural and built environments, and graphic elements that bridge its rich history with a progressive outlook. The brand’s typography reflects this balance of tradition and modernity, while the accompanying Brand Style Guide empowers staff to apply the brand consistently across all communications—building recognition, pride, and cohesion.

Implementation planning focused on turning strategy into action. Guide Studio delivered recommendations for practical tools and creative ideas to integrate the brand into everyday experiences—ranging from signage and communication templates to storytelling campaigns and event branding. Signature initiatives such as a branded resident welcome kit, public art installations, and a bold “Myth Busters” campaign can be used to further activate the brand and foster community connection.

The implementation plan equips Grove City with a long-term framework to communicate its identity, guide growth with intention, strengthen civic pride, and attract continued investment. By championing a narrative of thoughtful development, inclusion, and small-town authenticity, Grove City is well-positioned to honor its heritage while embracing the future.
