Project Overview

Eager to tell a more cohesive and compelling story, the City of Hilliard engaged Guide Studio to help evolve its identity and strengthen its image across the region. As the community continues to grow and diversify, city leaders recognized the need for a brand that reflects both where Hilliard has been and where it’s headed. Guided by our Design With Direction® methodology, the branding process began with intentional community engagement—online surveys, stakeholder interviews, and collaborative workshops—to surface the values, aspirations, and unique personality traits that make Hilliard stand out.

The resulting brand positioning celebrates Hilliard as a welcoming, vibrant community—grounded in tradition yet poised for the future. The new visual identity features a modernized logo that evolves the city’s previous mark, thoughtfully honoring its history while signaling progress. It reflects Hilliard’s dynamic downtown, rich arts and culture, exceptional parks and recreation, and a business-friendly spirit—all hallmarks of a city that skillfully balances innovation with legacy.

Guide Studio translated this positioning into a flexible and cohesive identity system, including a versatile color palette, strategic typography, and graphic elements that express both energy and authenticity. These visual tools bring consistency to communications, signage, and outreach—while offering departments the flexibility to engage audiences in meaningful ways. Accompanying brand messaging guidelines provide the city team and its partners with clear, compelling language to tell Hilliard’s story with confidence and clarity.

To ensure long-term success, Guide Studio developed an implementation plan with practical, scalable strategies for rolling out the brand across digital and physical touchpoints. Key initiatives include updating city gateways and facility signage, launching public art and storytelling campaigns, and deepening resident engagement through improved communication channels. A dedicated brand champion training program empowers staff and local leaders to become enthusiastic advocates for the brand, strengthening alignment and momentum across the community.

With a clear platform and actionable tools in place, the City of Hilliard is well-positioned to promote its authentic story, attract new investment, unify its residents, and stand out within the region. This strategic branding initiative ensures Hilliard continues to grow with intention—staying true to its roots while confidently embracing what’s next.
